I take a lot of photos that aren’t inherently interesting at first glance, because I see a shape or form that interests me out in the world and I think: “I can use that later.” These photos have become an extensive library of images that I use to play with in Photoshop to make my abstractions. I strive, with these abstractions, to isolate the shape—to take it out of its environment and create a new image out of the form that interested me.
